New Year’s Eve Rekindle Old and Inspire New Traditions

Happy New Year's 2013

Everyone looks forward to New Year’s Eve as a chance for a new beginning; an opportunity to better yourself and make way for a more positive outlook on your life. To help bring in the New Year, here are some activities that can make your holiday as enjoyable as possible:

5. Create a Time Capsule - Before you ring in the New Year, fill a box containing all your favorite items and memories of 2012 and bury or hide it somewhere until next New Year’s Eve.

Old and New Traditions

Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving marks the beginning of the holiday season. Family traditions come out, and new ones are made. Family and friends come together to celebrate this in many ways. Some start their day gathered around their television to watch the famous Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade; others begin to prepare their favorite dishes; while others play or watch a football game. One thing everyone has in common is their appetite for Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings -- turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie to top it off!  Family traditions will, hopefully, never be broken. However there can always be room for adding something new.  Here are some ideas…

Honoring our Veterans

Veteran's Day

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same. That I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”

The Oath of Enlistment

This oath is taken by every Veteran at time of enlistment and describes the magnitude of the commitment they made.  To those that have taken this oath, it is more than just words, it is a commitment, it becomes a way of life and it doesn’t end when one leaves the service.

Happy HalloweenBoo! Halloween is today – do you have your costume ready? Your candy too? Kids have been preparing their costumes for weeks now and tonight is the big night they can run up to houses and ask that age-old question “trick or treat?” It’s the one day a year where parents allow kids to come home with large bags of candy and it’s also the one day where kids of all ages can dress as something they’ve always wanted to be – whether silly or scary.

Monitor Your Bills to Save Money and Preserve Your Budget

Bill Errors

Everyone receives bills, some more than others and occasionally we all get a little lax on reviewing them.  Try not to let that happen!  We are all on a budget and not looking at your bill can cost you money, especially if you don't do it for several months.  Billing errors happen quite regularly, especially when it comes to services like TV and cell phones.  You give them enough of your hard-earned money, there is no need to give them any more!  This regular review of your bill may also show you options to save money through reduced usage or removing services you do not use.  Now let us dive into that bill.
