Valentine’s Day some may think that this is just another Hallmark holiday - a day to buy chocolates in a heart shaped box, a dozen roses or dinner at an exclusive restaurant. However, Valentine’s Day does have a romantic history. In fact, the origin of the phrase “to wear your heart on your sleeve” came from the middle ages when young men and women would draw names out of a bowl to see who would be their valentine.Then, they would have to pin the name on their sleeves and wear it around for a week. Although, this is not a tradition anymore, many Americans are still finding that special someone to call their “valentine”.
