What Should You Have When You Open A Bank Account?
When you open a bank account, whether a personal or business account, there are certain qualifications you will need upon opening that account. Depending on what type of account you wish to open, there will be slight variations. Qualifications you will need in order to open certain accounts include:
Opening a Personal Checking or Savings Account:
- Personal Identification
- Social Security Number
- Date of Birth
- Contact Information
You will also need to make an initial deposit, and this amount will be between a $10 deposit to a $100 deposit, depending on which type of account you decide to open. After the initial deposit, it can take up to two business days for your account number to be assigned to you!
Opening a Business Checking or Savings Account:
- Personal Identification (same information as a personal account)
- EIN Number (Employer ID Number)
- Copy of your Business License or Certificate of Corporation
Just as for a personal account opening, you will also need to make an initial deposit into your account. This amount is greater than that of a personal account, and will vary between a $100 deposit to a $1,000 deposit, depending on the type of business account you decide to go with. After the initial deposit, it can take up to two business days for your account number to be assigned to you!
