Holiday Clothing Drive
Did you know that the average American buys 48 pieces of new clothing each year? And did you know that on average, garments last three years. Maybe even more surprising, the average American throws away 68 pounds of clothing each year. This holiday season, if you are thinking of cleaning out your closet, please set aside your gently used garments that others in our communities could benefit from. Then drop them off at one of our participating Standard Bank drop-off locations.
Donate Clothes at a Participating Branch Office
This Christmas, you can give the gift of warm or professional clothes to others in need in your own community by participating in Standard Banks’ holiday clothing drive. Standard Bank is making it easy for you to clean out your closet for a cause. We are accepting new or gently used clothing items at the following branches through December 24:
- Illinois: Dolton, Calumet City, East Side, Hegewish and Torrence
- Indiana: East Chicago and Hammond
We’ll take your holiday clothing drive donations and redistribute them to local charities.
Helpful Hints for What Can Donate
As you consider what you can give, open your closet and pull out the clothes you haven’t worn in the past year. You might be surprised to discover just how few of your clothes you wear on a regular basis. When cleaning out your own closets, focus on setting aside donation items that are still in good condition and clean.
If you can afford to purchase something new for the clothes drive, think about something that kids really want to wear. Kids, in particular, are dialed-in to what their peers are wearing and want to look just like them. Outerwear for adults as well as kids is always appreciated this time of year. These are some suggested clothes items that can be dropped off at a participating Standard Bank branch near you:
- Coats, jackets
- Knit hats, scarves
- Gloves, mittens
- Shirts, slacks
- Skirts, suits
- Shoes, boots
A holiday clothing drive is just one of the many ways that Standard Bank is helping the communities we serve. Partner with us to give the gift of warmth and style to someone in need this Christmas.
